
Carlton Alfred Smith Biography
1853-1946 A noted painter of genre, figurative and domestic subjects especially romantic views of family life. Enviably his works depict the beauty and innocence of children in Victorian and Edwardian life. The Quality of his work can be compared to works of Arthur John Elsly and Fred Morgan. It is refreshing to discover a lovely example of a good artist, we can understand why such works as this remain in one families hands for generations. Smith exhibited widley throughout hie career, 158 works at Suffolk Street another great accolade and many works at the Royal Academy from 1879 and also at the New Watercolour Society.
