Geoffrey Chatten Biography

Born 1938 Geoffrey Chatten was born in Gorleston-on-the-sea, Norfolk. He was elected to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1994. A keen interest in nature led to his first job with the forestry commission. In 1960 he was encouraged to start painting and has been a professional painter ever since. He paints landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes in oils and recently is rendering still lifes. Over the past 30 years, Chatten has developed and mastered a technique of painting which is completely his own. The intimate quality of his work displays a freedom of personal expression and exploration. His paintings show a great ability to capture the feeling and atmosphere of his subjects.
