Selby was born in North Yorkshire. His paintings have a unique and original quality, they feature still life and landscapes painted in oil, watercolor and mixed media. Three dimensional forms are positioned at specific points within the painting, drawing the eye to question the disproportionate perspective. The smooth, basic shapes, laid out simply but precisely, contrast with envelopes of irregular, colourful blocks, which together give the paintings a powerful sense of symmetry. He is now a member of five prominent art societies and has received many awards.
