The Coalition Exhibition October 15th - 31st 2010

The Coalition Exhibition October 15th - 31st 2010

For their Annual Exhibition this year W.R.Harvey & Co. (Antiques) Ltd joined forces with Callaghan Fine Paintings & Contemporary Bronzes to provide an exciting experience for visitors. The coming together of these two major dealers provided a unique opportunity for friends and clients to see rare and wonderful pieces of Fine English Furniture from the 17th. 18th. and 19th. centuries combined with selected 19th. and 20th. century masterpieces from artists such as Marcel Dyf, Antoine Bouvard and William Russell Flint. To top off this brilliant showing, the galleries at Harvey’s, 86, Corn Street, Witney, Oxon. will have some stunning contemporary bronzes by Carl Payne and Benson Landes.

The exhibition was titled ‘The Coalition Exhibition’, the idea for which came about in  June of this year in the aftermath of the General Election when all the talk was of the new Coalition Government, David Cameron and Nick Clegg as Prime Minister and Deputy PM. Harveys and Callaghans had almost adjacent stands at the Summer Olympia Fair and in the quieter moments, David Harvey and Dan Callaghan found themselves discussing current politics and agreed to hold a joint exhibition with the aim of introducing their friends and loyal patrons to each others disciplines. As the Prime Minister’s constituency, Witney seemed the perfect location for such an exhibition.
