Susan Mary Webb was born on the 19th December 1962, educated at Regent House and troud High School for Girls. She began her painting career by joining an exhibition of Irish Artists in the Mall Galleries, London in 1978. From this point on Susan truly had the ‘bit between her teeth’ and she galloped on to her enxt show in 1979 – a joint one in Painswick of wild-life paintings. By the time she embarked on her first solo show, the following year in Dublin, her feet were firmly planted on the path of a landscape painter with abudding interest in equestrian work. Since then Susan has held a major solo exhibition every second year with more minor or joint exhibitions in the year in-between (excepting a few years while she recovered from a car accident) Susan now flourishes largely as an equestrian painter. Her forays into new terrain constantly enrich her more serious work widening the scope of her depiction of the substance, grace and speed of these equine athletes. The subtlety that can be seen with the sensous rippling of the skin over the muscular power of these animals as they are pushed to the final straight is a delight.
