We are very excited to announce the new Pop-Up art gallery at Callaghans of Shrewsbury. We are exhibiting works from the Art World Gallery at 22 St Mary’s Street, Shrewsbury.

Art World Gallery was established in 2000 and is run by the amazing husband and wife duo, Chris and Ellie Ixer, who are based in the beautiful Cotswolds. Using their many years of experience and their passion for art, together they have built an extensive and stunning collection of European, Canadian and British paintings and sculptures, spanning early 20th century through to the modern day.

Chris and Ellie have exhibited all over the world and have developed a strong reputation that resembles quality with the highest standards of trading. As members of the association of Art and Antiques Dealers, LAPADA and CINOA, their business complies fully with these standards.

This Pop- Up Gallery includes an incredible collection of modern artworks, ranging from the unique wax techniques of Bill Zima, who recreates natural scenes of trees and foliage using textural methods. To the witty, amusing scenes of Thomas Bossard, his pieces feature figurative compositions often relating to the theatre, portraying the humour and comical side of life.

Joseph Capicotto is another beautiful example, his figurative oil paintings embrace the elegant features of the human figure with a romantic, thoughtful outcome. His dreamlike colours evoke feelings of mystery, passion and intrigue leaving the viewer wondering who the figures are and what their story is.

However, if you’re looking for expressive paintings with a bolder colour palette then you can view David Jamin. He has a very varied approach to subject matter, ranging from figurative works to smaller sketches of birds. Or we could look at the work of Guiseppe Piermatteo who has a completely different approach. He conveys geometric and dreamlike paintings which have the ability to transport the viewers in an explosion of colours with a Cubist influence. His scenes of France are filled with harlequins, musicians, landscapes, starry skies and memories.

We also have the wonderful sculptor Luc Benedetti on display. Much of Luc’s inspiration comes from the world of sport, focusing on the human body in motion – the tension, strength and power. Luc strives to overcome the static quality of bronze via choreographic sequences, thus harnessing the movement in his work.

Lastly but by no means less, we have Carine Bouvard. She creates portraits of women featuring soft tones and textures with her subjects exuding a blend of strength and vulnerability. The women often have a striking expression and rosy cheeks, adding a stylistic and otherworldly quality.

We feel honoured to showcase this extraordinary collection of talented artists and are thrilled to have the opportunity to exhibit their remarkable works in our lovely gallery.
