Raquel Carbonell was born in Alcoy (Alicante, Spain) in 1973. She loved spending time in her artist father’s studio and was captivated by both looking at and creating artworks from a young age, she joined the Academy of Fine Arts in her hometown. Her painting style developed quickly during this time, with great sensitivity and delicacy surfacing in her brushstrokes. After taking a break to have a family, Raquel returned to painting and re-established herself as a successful hyperrealist. She uses a strong and refreshing palette combined with the accuracy and detail needed for hyperrealism. Her most common subject matter is her irresistible portrayals of jars and bags of sweet treats. Her ability to paint the transparent glass jars and cellophane packaging with such authenticity shows her immense skill. These tantalising depictions of sweet treats are popular because of their eye-catching nature and would add a bit of amusement to any home. Her artworks are currently exhibited in Private collections in Spain, France, England, Italy, Dubai and Russia.
