Lowry is famous for his depictions of the industrial North. He was a pioneer for drawing scenes of British life at the time, he drew exactly what he saw, in his own words 'I draw what i see, nothing more, nothing less'. 'The Brewery' is an extremley important work, it has the three figures and the famous black dog - that appears in many of Lowry's drawings and of courrse the towering building of a Brewery in City Road, Salford that has since been demolished.
