High Alert

This aptly named piece depicts a small bird perched on top of a post on high alert, squawking away. Waddams has depicted this moment perfectly, capturing the bird’s characteristics brilliantly through its sharp, straight tail feathers to overtly wide, open beak, giving the impression the bird is persistently protesting something and is, perhaps, issuing a warning. The attention to detail from the worn, wooden post with mossy patches and barbed wire to the bird’s sharp tiny claws are all captured with absolute precision.
