Claude Venard liked to use familiar objects within his work. These
were usually nestled amongst a network of abstract shapes, strong lines and
cubist influences. Although he loved to use bright and bold colours, Venard
also enjoyed to paint with a very muted pallet, often using dark tones to
capture a mood or moment in time.
